Pines tip to sign Billings

-

CONTROVERSIAL striker Shane Billings will link with former coach Steve Beever at Pacific Pines this year.

Beever’s signing by Pines has landed not only Billings but also Jarran Pfefferkorn and Aaron McKenzie for the 2018 Coast League 1 soccer season.

“Shane is overseas at the moment but he said he will play for us and expects to be back here in February,” Beever said. Like Pfefferkorn and McKenzie, Billings played under Beever at Mudgeeraba in 2015 after following the coach across from Southport.

The striker was also under Beever at Southport until the latter’s departure mid-season in 2014. Married to pop star Amy Shark, Billings had a horrid 2015 with the Wallabies, which culminated with a 10match suspension.

That was one of the longest suspensions in Gold Coast soccer history after he was sent off three times in the same season.

Pacific Pines will contest the 2018 CL1 competition against Musgrave, Southport, Kingscliff, Robina City and second teams from Premier League clubs Broadbeach United, Palm Beach and Mudgeeraba.
