Rooftop bar metres from the light rail
ONE of the Gold Coast’s leading developers is planning a trendy rooftop bar and restaurant as part of a major new project in the city’s heart.
Sunland has lodged plans to build a four-storey complex on a vacant Surfers Paradise site it owns next to popular nightspot Waxy’s.
Built on the site of an existing pocket carpark, the development is one of three new projects the company behind Q1 has lodged in recent weeks.
According to plans it will featured a floor of retail space, two levels of offices and a rooftop restaurant, bar and dining terrace.
The eatery would overlook Surfers Paradise Boulevard and would be just metres from the light rail.
Sunland has also lodged plans for the next stage of its 105ha, 800-home The Heights housing development at Pimpama.
The latest application proposed redeveloping a further 13ha to create 120 residential properties, parks, and the retention of fauna corridors.
Sunland Group managing director, Sahba Abedian, said the company has lodged several development applications with the council for future house and land stages at its master planned community The Heights.
“Over the course of the next eight years The Heights will become a significant community precinct for the northern Gold Coast,” he said.
“Our vision is to create a vibrant master planned parkland community comprising a selection of house and land packages, parkfront residences and townhomes, intimately connected to their hinterland setting through thoughtful urban design.
“The one hectare central park at the entrance to The Heights is due for completion in February and features sheltered pavilions, contemporary children’s playgrounds and formal gardens, as well as a striking 36 metre arbour.”
The Heights, which launched in 2015, is already home to more than 150 residents and by 2025 is expected to be home to more than 800 households. There are eight future house and land stages before Council, with properties going for $414,000.
