I am offended by extreme green and left-wing bigots trying to change the date of our national day of celebration. But I am just a 50-something white taxpayer so I guess its OK to offend me and my type. Simon

I wish the media would stop refering to Tomic as a star – at best he is a fallen star. Barney

When 2 dudes get married, what is it Mr & Mr so and so,

The number of overnight rust buckets camping along the Esplanade at Burleigh near public facilities increasing every day. Thought this is illegal. PaulJ

Chatroom (GCB 16/1). Anyone who loves and admires Donald Trump for any reason has to be a fruit loop like him. Bb

Looking at the surf pounding in today, breaking over the sea wall, it’s impossible that a cruise ship could berth in these typical summer conditions. The Mayor should take a drive down to The Spit for a reality check.

Wish someone would pat me on the a*** because it looked so good, I’d be over the moon!

Ads telling us about travel & traffic for games - just like the handbook another waste. Locals are all on the roads every day. We know how congested they are going to be & public transport is only suitable for a minority. I noticed how much difference the light rail connection to Helensvale has helped the M1 over the hols also. Still a carpark.

The hidden speed camera, often hidden in a parked car/ van, on Wardoo Street, Southport/Ashmore, has over the years caught many people, as the speed goes 70 - 60 from the bend in the road. My husband got one about 6 years ago. It works, as both he and I are much more aware of the changes in speed limits on the smaller roads on the coast than ever before. Once bitten!

Garrison, We watched some of the brilliant Ghan rail trip also. Best 18 hours of television ever shown on TV. Wished I had taped it. Fabulous stuff SBS. More like it please.

Kevil Hill at Dreamworld was the highlight of my day. You must go check it out before it closes. Those zombies were amazingly terrifying. Everyone coming out of the attraction wanted to go back in. SO GOOD.

Many say the barometer of a city’s intelligence, can be measured by its extensiveness and regularity of its

buses and trams, ... the number of drug dealers, tailgaters ... and the amount of wildlife/ choking plastic, found within it’s boundaries. Come on GC, the latter we can easily fix.

Funny, weird world we inhabit. When one of the brain dead bridge jumpers injures or paralyses him or herself, the equally brain-dear parents will immediately blame the DOT

or the Council (depending on who owns the bridge) and promptly sue said entity. No one is responsible for their actions anymore.

Dave I’m so glad u r a responsible owner of a ute with a dog in the back there aren’t many like u! Sue Currumbin

Union between same sex people is not love, it’s Lust and Lust is one of the 7 deadly sins. Society is being brainwashed by gays to believe that love is love. How distorting to fragile minds, and the Gov. has committed a sin by approving it. Zodiac

Giving Maccas away, the other day the wife and I ordered brekkie, 2 bacon, eggs and hash browns and 2 teas and cost 15, half the price at Hungry Jacks, tea and coffee free for pensioners. A pair of oldies.

When I see Mayor Tom Tate and his councillors riding push bikes to work and meetings I will consider it myself, until then no way. Leaders have to lead by example.

Isn’t it great Malcolm Turnbull has given his staff a very significant pay rise while the pensioners sit back and got 7.50 a fortnight for both to share 3.50 per week for two that equates to 1.75 each I am so over the moon then guess what Private Health is on the agenda to go up in February. Isn’t it great to be a pensioner or low income earner. So happy for Turnbull’a staff. PD

Long ago in Chatroom suggested our waterways in GC & also from Brisbane with pick up & drop off by coach as alternative means of transport for Com. Games (also bonus tourism trips) I guess this was too hard for organisers?? We used water taxis for years right in to McIntosh Is. excellent. BM

How many grassed carparks does Turf Club want? Opened grassed park on Racecourse Dr for Magic Millions for handful of cars while existing carparks are never full. Hands off our wetlands! Loca
