Child left in parked car

-

A THREE-year-old boy was yesterday locked inside a car for three hours because his father thought he had already dropped the child at daycare.

An apologetic Richard Ligault said it was his “worst nightmare” after police had to smash open a window to free his son from the Kia parked in Neutral Bay in Sydney about 11am.

Yesterday Sydney was a relatively mild 28C, but temperatures inside the car would have soared to the 40Cs.

Mr Ligault, a French national, said he’d had a terrible night’s sleep and that his wife was the one to usually drop their son off.

“It was a rough night,” he said. “I went to drop off my kid at the school, he fell asleep in the car. I thought I had dropped him off and I went to work.”

Police said it was unlikely that charges would be laid.
