A lot to admire for Coyle

- BRAD DAVIDSON

JASON Coyle rates the “rockhard fit” Siren’s Fury the pick of his Randwick runners tomorrow but is also excited to see what emerging gallopers Memes and Insensata can produce when they return to racing.

Memes graduated from a Kembla Grange maiden win to claim three Saturday victories at Randwick last preparation and will return in the $100,000 Summer Sprint (1000m).

Insensata won consecutive Saturday races at Rosehill last campaign and will resume in the Benchmark 85 Handicap (1200m) tomorrow.

Coyle expects both horses to acquit themselves well but Siren’s Fury will carry the flag as the stable’s best hope of a winner tomorrow.

“I think you would have to go with the fit horse in Siren’s Fury but it’s just nice to have those other runners back at the track,” he said.

“When you have a horse that is rock-hard fit and is coming off a win, you probably can’t go too far past it.

“My only query with Siren’s Fury is I suggested I didn’t want to go past 1400m. But as the program sat, it was either (a mile at Randwick) or go back to Rosehill.

“We haven’t had a lot of luck at Rosehill and hopefully with a similar run (tomorrow) she will be in the finish again.”

Memes has had two trials in preparation for her return and Coyle said tomorrow’s performance would determine which race she went to next.

“There is an option to go to the Expressway Stakes (in two weeks) and at Warwick Farm a lot of those mares races start at 1200m, so there are a stack of options for her,” he said. “How she resumes and how she races will dictate where we go.

Coyle feels Insensata “will probably need the run”.

“In saying that, I thought the same thing last preparation and she was probably unlucky not to win at Warwick Farm (first-up) when she was beaten by Test The World,” he said.

“She has a lot of upside from last preparation and the form around her was solid.”
