Tuning up for tilt at world title

A SPOT at the Long Distance World Age Group Triathlon championsh­ips will be on the line next month at the annual Tweed Coast Enduro.

Competitor­s will gain points that will go towards their selection for the Australian team that will compete at the world titles in Denmark in July.

The long course event at the Enduro – to be held on February 10 – will feature a 1.9km swim along Mooball Creek, 90km cycle along Tweed Coast Rd and a 21.1km run.

Among the field will be Suffolk Park’s Matt Slee, who won last year’s men’s open category at the Enduro.

The race is one of three world qualifying events along with the Hell of the West, to be held at Goondiwind­i on February 2, and Challenge Melbourne at St Kilda on April 22.

A sprint distance triathlon featuring a 750m swim, 22.5km cycle and 5km run will also be held at the Tweed Coast Enduro.
