NEW COOL KIDS ON THE BLOCK
It was excitement all the way for Gold Coast preppies as they embarked on their first day of school.
IT’S a brave new world entering the school gates for the first time – but it doesn’t hurt to have your best mate by your side.
Preppies Sarah Miglioranza and Archie Williamson couldn’t contain their excitement as they set off to build playdough figures, read books and put down the first words in their work books at Palm Beach yesterday.
There was only one moment when Archie turned to look back at his mum Phoebe Williamson before embarking on 13 years of schooling.
“As we were leaving the classroom this morning I saw him get a little look in his eye,” Phoebe said.
That was when the reality hit Archie: he was a school kid now. “But we left before anything happened,” she said.
“It wasn’t until he put his uniform on Sunday night and thought he looked really cool that he got excited for his first day.”
With Sarah by his side, his brother in a few grades above him and a “cool” new teacher the five-year-old said he had a ball learning the ropes.
“They’re so lucky to have each other, they’re really good friends, they do nippers at Pacific SLSC and everything together, they have heaps of fun,” Phoebe said.
“They look after each other, it’s really nice.”
Despite a hard day studying Sarah and Archie showed no signs of tiring as they played in the park after school.
But their mums Phoebe and Jess said it could be tough to get them out of bed today.
“Day two is always a lot harder than day one, they’ve had their first day so they know how long they’re there for and what goes on – I’m anticipating tomorrow morning will be a little bit harder,” Phoebe said.
“I feel like Archie is going to crash tonight, I’m going to take them for a swim to make sure they’re fully tired, force some dinner into them and hope they go to bed easily.”
