Man, 45, charged over Coolangatt­a murder

A LABRADOR man has been charged with the murder of a 46-year-old Coolangatt­a man seven days after his body was found in a locked unit.

Edward James Lockyer’s body was found in his apartment at Dixon St on February 1 after a concerned friend called police.

It is believed Mr Lockyer’s body was in the unit for at least four days before it was found.

Detectives raided a unit on Imperial Pde at Labrador yesterday morning and charged a 45-year-old man with one count of homicide, as well as other unrelated charges. Mr Lockyer was well-known in Coolangatt­a, he did not work and enjoyed drinking rum.

Police are appealing for anyone with informatio­n or footage of a gold Mitsubishi Magna sedan in the Dixon St area between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday January 29 to come forward.
