HYND CONTINUES TO RIDE WAVE OF SUCCESS

-

GOLD Coast surfer Luke Hynd has carried the confidence he gained in the Tweed Coast Pro into the second round of the latest World Surf League Qualifying Series event in NSW.

Hynd synched his backhand attack with the playful right-handers on offer at Boomerang Bay yesterday to post a series of solid scores, which allowed him to take out the heat with a 14.40 total.

“You’re only as good as your last heat, so I knew I needed to get another heat win under my belt,” said Hynd, who was runner-up in the Mothernest Tweed Coast Pro last weekend.

“My game plan was to just catch two sets and make sure they counted and thankfully it worked.

“My boards feel great at the moment so it’s filled me with a bit of confidence. Hopefully, I can keep the ball rolling.”

NSW Central Coast surfer and 2016 WSL Australasian Qualifying Series champion Shane Holmes made his intentions clear when he demolished his Round 2 heat, posting a giant 18.35 twowave heat total, the highest of the event so far.

Holmes, who was injured for most of last year, will now meet Timothee Bisso (France), Kyuss King (Byron Bay) and Toy Tanaka (Japan) in the third round.
