Man stalked victim after rape charge

THE former profession­al footballer dragged off a flight to New Zealand to face a rape charge was arrested and charged at the weekend for stalking his alleged victim.

The man, given bail last week for the alleged rape, is also accused of planting a listening device in the woman’s car.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, yesterday appeared in Southport Magistrate­s Court charged with unlawful stalking, using a listening device, breach of a domestic violence order and breach of a bail condition.

He was allegedly seen on Saturday night stalking the address of the woman. Police arrested and charged the 47year-old man on Sunday.

The breach of bail charge relates to allegedly failing to be at a court-ordered residentia­l address.

The breach of the domestic violence order relates to allegedly being in a location he is prohibited from visiting.
