Helensvale’s Super result
THREE Helensvale rugby players have been named in Queensland’s squad for the inaugural Super W season.
Playmaker Zahara Temara plus forwards Ashlee Knight and Jasmine Kemp all made the cut, with Temara’s effort particularly impressive given that she will be juggling different codes.
Between her rugby commitments, the 20-year-old is a star in rugby league circles having played a part in Australia’s win at the World Cup late last year.
Another player with a Gold Coast connection is Tallisha Harden. Though Harden plays rugby for Sunnybank, she features in the 13-a-side code for the Burleigh Bears.
Coached by Michael Hayes, the 29-strong squad includes nine Wallaroos.
“We’ve assembled a really strong squad ahead of the inaugural Super W competition with a range of experience and youthful energy,” Hayes said.
“We’re fortunate that Queensland has some quality club competitions with healthy rivalries which has helped lift the standard of the game in the state.”
