NORTH BOATIES GOING BANANAS OVER PRAWN RUN

THERE have been heaps of banana prawns around Macleay Island and the powerlines around Jacobs Well.

Some massive mud crabs have been caught at the mouth of the Logan and Coomera rivers and plenty of sand crabs around Tipplers.

Offshore, Sullies Reef has had plenty of trag jew being caught on pilchards.

WEST BASS IN GOOD NUMBERS ON FIRST LIGHT

THERE have been some good catches of bass in Clear Island Waters and the Coomera River.

Hinze Dam has produced its best catches on first light using surface lures cast into the structure.

Unfortunat­ely heaps of tilapia still being caught. One fisherman removed more than 40 in one session last Sunday around Robina Lakes.

EAST MANGROVE JACKS KEEP FISHOS HAPPY

PLENTY of mangrove jacks in the Nerang River as well as big muddies.

Offshore, try for mackerel straight out the front of Sea World in 12 fathoms.

Out wider in 80m there are still a few small black marlin and wahoo being caught but the action has slowed a little.

In closer big jewfish have been caught on the closer reefs.

SOUTH EARLY START BEST CHANCE FOR PELAGICS

MERMAID and Palm Beach Reef are worth a shot on first light for spottie mackerel and the odd Spaniard.

Troll for wahoo around Nine Mile Reef for wahoo with deepdiving lures.

And worth trying the new beach gutters for whiting using beach worms around Fingal and further south.
