SURF FORECAST

A mix of ESE windswell and reinforcin­g SSE groundswel­l maintains 2 to 4ft surf across the region on Friday under still moderate to fresh easterly winds, before both swells fade over the weekend as winds turn lighter N to NE. A small to mid sized round of SSE swell should follow early to mid next week, speculativ­ely peaking at solid 3 to 4ft plus levels across northern NSW coasts before fading again Wednesday/ Thursday.

TODAY

Mix of E windswell and new mid-period SSE groundswel­l. Ranging from a junky 3 to 4ft exposed open breaks, wrapping at anywhere from 1 to 3ft inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light SSW inshore, tending ESE 15 to 20 knots and then E during the day.

TOMORROW

Mix of smaller ENE windswell and fading SSE swell. Slower sets to 2 to 3ft exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Possibly lighter inshore winds early, tending ENE 10 to 15 knots, then NNE and freshening to 10 to 20 knots during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Smaller mix of NE and SE swells around 1 to 2ft exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light NW to NNW inshore, tending N and freshening 10 to 20 knots during the afternoon.

MONDAY

Tiny mix of ENE and SE swells around 1ft+ across the region early. New SSE windswell picks up towards a windblown 2 to 3ft+ across northern NSW coasts during the afternoon. Wrapping at lower 1 to 2ft levels across exposed southern QLD coasts. Near flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Lighter S inshore ahead of an early SSE change 20 to 25 knots, tending SE and easing to 15 to 20 knots later.

TUESDAY

SSE windswell up to a junky, windblown 3 to 4ft across northern NSW exposed breaks, wrapping at 2 to 3ft into exposed southern QLD coasts and grading to 1 to 2ft at best inside the points and bays. WIND: ESE 15 to 20 knots.
