EGYPTIAN DISCOVERY

-

A new tomb discovery near the Pyramid of Khafra on the Giza Plateau, belonging to a priestess named Hetpet, who lived during the Fifth Dynasty, was recently announced by the Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt.

Archaeologists have been excavating tombs on the site since 1842.

Hetpet served as a priestess to Hathor the goddess of fertility, music, and dance. Her tomb is decorated with remarkably preserved paintings, including Hetpet in hunting and fishing scenes and depictions of people melting metal, making leather goods, and dancing. The tomb dates back over 4300 years, to a time after the Giza Pyramids had been constructed.
