DIVERSITY BUILDS
TODAY’S list of attendances at major events on the Gold Coast shows the width of the city’s appeal.
For years, our tourism operators and organisations have worked to expand the diversity of attractions and experiences offered on the Gold Coast. Before that, we were known almost exclusively for our beaches and theme parks.
The latest crowd figures released by Tourism and Events Queensland shows the Gold Coast can draw an audience.
It doesn’t matter what demographic is targeted — revs heads, families, music junkies or art lovers — this city turns it on.
Those listed today are complemented by big calendar events such as the Magic Millions, Quiksilver and Roxy pros, national sporting teams, Gold Coast Marathon, the new cultural precinct and Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.
We also have a host of adventure businesses — think of the Broadwater jet boats, abseiling at Point Danger, jetpack adventures, skydiving, hiking in the Hinterland.
Bit by bit, the city has built on its diversity and depth, a mission which is ongoing.
