Glenn now the maximum

-

GLENN Maxwell is the only Australian with two Twenty20 international centuries and is now ranked the second best batsman in the shortest form of the game.

The Victorian blasted his way to 233 runs in the recent tri-series against England and New Zealand, which included his second century.

He was also named man of the series in Australia’s unbeaten five match romp.

That effort has been recognised in the latest ICC rankings with Maxwell climbing five places to sit behind only Kiwi Colin Munro on the list of the game’s best batsman.

Maxwell has also taken over the top mantle as allrounder.

Aaron Finch, named the Aussie T20 player of the year earlier this month, is the only other Aussie batsman in the top 10, coming in at No.4, with stand-in captain David Warner the next best at 19.

Australia remains second on the T20 team rankings having won seven of the past eight games, including the last six in a row against India then England and New Zealand.
