THE Star Gold Coast’s new showpiece, The Darling, will open on March 22, delivering the region a next-level, world-class facility for the Commonwealth Games.

Three years in the making, the no-expense-spared, 17-storey luxury suite hotel is the lavish centrepiece of The Star Gold Coast’s landmark transformation.

The Star Entertainment Group managing director Queensland Geoff Hogg said The Darling positioned The Star Gold Coast at the premium end of the market.

“Every element of the hotel is to a standard of luxury the Gold Coast has yet to experience,” he said.

While The Darling has been reserved for use by Games partners and stakeholders both in the lead-up to and during the Games from April 4-15, rooms are still available in the property’s

refurbished existing hotel, The Star Grand.

“We’re also looking forward later this month to opening online bookings for stays at The Darling post the Commonwealth Games,” Mr Hogg said.

Located at the front of the iconic Broadbeach Island property, The Darling features 57 spacious 70m sq to 328m sq suites.

Each level has seven suites, including a luxurious northern Penthouse Suite or Penthouse Spa Suite, offering the option of a third bedroom, and a southern Penthouse Deluxe Suite, which offers the choice of a dedicated billiard, media or exercise room.

Designed by Steelman Partners and delivered by DBI Design and construction company Probuild, The Darling also features premium resort facilities, new gaming amenities and stunning rooftop restaurant and bar Nineteen at The Star.

Mr Hogg said the hotel was a stand-alone facility with its own “arrival experience” and a distinct boutique design and eclectic feel.

“The Darling positions The Star Gold Coast at the premium end of the market and ensures the Gold Coast has an even more compelling value proposition as we seek to compete on a global scale for domestic and international visitors,” Mr Hogg said.
