PARADISE THAT’S WORTH ITS SALT
IT’S got a Himalayan salt water pool and a 1500-bottle capacity wine cellar so it’s no wonder people are flying from across the country to tour it.
IT’S got a Himalayan salt water pool and a 1500-bottle capacity wine cellar so it’s no wonder people are flying from across the country to tour it.
Other decadent touches at this Worongary property are evident in the imported Italian pizza oven, the mini-putting green in the backyard, the internal natural rock feature walls and the climatecontrolled cellar inspired by vendor, Slovakian emigrant, Andre Regec’s wife Tina’s passion for wine.
“We have toured places like the Barossa Valley and that inspired the cellar,” Mr Regec said.
“It fits 1500 bottles so we like to look for different selections of wine to store.”
This Gold Coast property manages to be influenced by hacienda – or Spanish – style, with a touch of California, but the Hamptons look is also there, and there’s no ignoring the Italian touches.
It took the Gold Coast businessman two years to rebuild the rundown property into a country paradise – his family purchased it in 2013.
“I loved the old bones of the home, it was very structurally sound, and now I love that it looks different from a design perspective,” Mr Regec said.
The Regec family moved to Worongary about five years ago in pursuit of a lifestyle closer to nature.
“We have a vegetable patch, an orchard, there is a herb garden and a chicken coop,” Mr Regec said.
“My son loves swimming, he took to it like a fish to water.”
But it’s not the natural watering holes where eightyear-old Lucas swims – rather the sparkling pool infused with Himalayan salt, renowned for emulating a spa treatment and being more gentle on the skin.
There is also a separate self-contained granny flat that currently per week.
Mr Regec drew on his role as director of AMS Property Renovations which carries out renovations, and his studies as a civil engineer architecture in Slovakia, to complete the renovation of this scale and cost.
“It is difficult for your average person to do that extent of renovation,” he said.
After enjoying his creation returns $250 for three years, Mr Regec has listed it so the family can move closer to their son’s future school and fulfil their desire to travel more.
The expressions of interest campaign, marketed through Luke Frederickson from Holmes and Moore Southport, has attracted immediate interest.
“My agent has told me he has four potential buyers interested already ... one is booked to fly from Perth to come and see the property,” Mr Regec said.
CoreLogic property data has recorded a 32.9 per cent increase in the median house price for Worongary over the past five years. The current record sale for the suburb was $3.8 million for a seven-bedroom mansion nearby in 2015.
