Van man denied bail

A TEENAGER who allegedly forced a woman from a stranger’s car and into a van at knifepoint, sparking a six-hour manhunt earlier this month, has been remanded in custody.

Connor Heidke, 19, faces multiple charges including deprivation of liberty, making threats and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Police will allege a woman escaped his van at about 6pm on March 3 and flagged down a passing car for help.

It will be alleged Heidke rammed the other car, threatened the driver and pulled the woman from the car, before bundling her into his own van.

Heidke appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday where his matter was adjourned.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Domestic Violence Court on March 16.
