Locals get sevens start

A NUMBER of Coast players have been named for Australia’s women’s sevens squad that will set out to conquer the Commonwealth Games.

Griffith University star Shannon Parry will co-captain the side with Sharni Williams and be joined by Aon Sevens teammate Demi Hayes.

Also in the squad of 13 is Charlotte Caslick, who represents Bond University in the national competition.

Australia will face Wales, England and Fiji in Pool B across April 13-14, with semi-finals and medal matches to be played on the 15th.

The news comes less than a week after Bond’s Angus Blyth, Tipene Mavoa and Hayden Sargeant were named in the Junior Wallabies squad.
