Bowman aims high

WINX’S jockey Hugh Bowman needs to pass a concussion test today to be cleared to ride at the Golden Slipper meeting.

Bowman is confident he has made a full recovery after being injured when dislodged from Performer in the Todman Stakes nine days ago.

So certain is Bowman he will be riding on Saturday, he has taken mounts in all nine races – Winx, Performer, Prized Icon (Ranvet Stakes), Le Romain (The Galaxy), D’Argento (Rosehill Guineas), Faraway Town (Birthday Card Stakes), Shillelagh (Epona Stakes), Patrick Erin (Manion Cup) and Isaurian (Darby Munro Stakes).

In other jockey news, Blake Shinn stays on Happy Clapper in the George Ryder Stakes, and Hong Kong-based Zac Purton returns to ride Oohood in the Golden Slipper and Newcastle’s flying mare In Her Time in The Galaxy.
