GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

Exoteric (Race 2)

Chris Waller always looked to have a mortgage on this race and that proved to be the case as he prepared the trifecta. Exoteric drifted from $5.50 out to $7.50 and he got a long way back but he outstayed his rivals and was nothing short of dominant late.

Doubt Defying (Race 5) Doubt Defying ($3.20 into $2.35) was one of the best-backed runners of the day and he never looked like getting beaten. He trailed the leader into the race before he hit the front at the top of the straight and quickly put a big gap on his rivals.

Plucky Girl (Race 9)

Plucky Girl now has seven wins from 19 starts and she has been outstanding this campaign. She didn’t have a great deal of luck in the run but it didn’t matter as she still showed an excellent turn of foot to give Jeff Lloyd his fourth win of the day. LOSERS

Mediterranean (Race 1) Mediterranean won the opener to record his first race win since being transferred to the care of Matthew Dunn, but he suffered a bleeding attack and has been banned from racing for three months. A heartbreaking result for connections as he looked well-placed to string some wins together this campaign.

Snitzkraft (Race 8)

A very confusing run from a horse that has been so consistent during his racing career to date. He tired so badly at the top of the straight that it was almost dangerous and he was lucky to stay on his feet. A performance that was simply too bad to be true.

NEXT TIME

Il Riccio (Race 3)

The well-supported Il Riccio missed the start and there is no doubt that cost him the race. He was forced to do a great deal of work early and was three wide throughout. Still found the line strongly and was only denied by Char Char, who received a dream run in transit.

Plumaro (Race 6)

There is a little bit of Chautauqua about Plumaro. She showed no early speed whatsoever and was under heavy riding a long way from home. She never looked like catching Boomsara, but her last 100m was outstanding and she possess a serious turn of foot.
