BOWLER SET FOR RECORD APPEARANCE

-

AUSTRALIAN lawn bowls veteran Karen Murphy (pictured) will break a record at GC2018 as soon as she makes her first bowl.

The 43-year-old will become the first Australian bowler to compete in five Commonwealth Games.

Murphy will represent Australia in the singles as well as the pairs with Kelsey Cottrell.

“Playing singles for your home country in your home country is a bit of pressure, but if I am well prepared I will take some confidence into it,” said Murphy, who made her national debut in 1997. “You can then use your experience and knowledge to get you home.”

Lawn bowls will be held at Broadbeach Bowls Club from April 5 to 13. Tickets at gc2018.com/tickets
