REMEMBER WHEN

-

POLICE feared a bloody weekend clash involving guns, knives and brawling between Hell’s Angels and Finks bikies at a luxury Gold Coast resort could spiral into a vicious bikie war.

Police were put on high alert for bikie activity and ordered to report all sightings of gang members. Three men were charged following the Saturday night mayhem in which three people were shot and two were stabbed.

More than 1800 people watched in horror as the violence erupted just after 10.30pm at a kickboxing match in the ballroom of the exclusive Royal Pines Resort.

Five people, including two of the men charged, were taken to the Gold Coast Hospital with either gunshot or stab wounds.

One man who had been shot in the head and back was last night in a serious condition while two others were listed as stable. One victim was shot and stabbed while two others were knifed in the abdomen.

Witnesses said women were screaming and hiding under tables and children were cowering as bullets ricocheted around the ballroom and the air was filled with flying metal chairs.

Police confirmed the men charged, aged 33, 24 and 26, were all members of bikie gangs. They were charged with affray to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court.

The ballroom at the exclusive Ashmore resort was declared a crime scene.

“Chairs were being thrown at people and bullets were flying everywhere,’’ said one witness.

“Kids as young as six were dodging bullets.

“It was like a scene from a horror movie.’’
