Brothers reunite for Bathurst

- JAMES PHELPS

WILL and Alex Davison will reunite as they bid to become the first brothers in history to win the Bathurst 1000 as codrivers this year.

The Davisons will team up for 23Red Racing as Alex, 38, joins the team as Will’s Endurance Cup co-driver for the first time since 2015.

Will, 35, said the brothers had “unfinished business” with the famous Mount Panorama circuit following their fourth place in the chaotic 2014 Bathurst 1000 driving for Erebus Motorsport.

“I love this sport because of my family,” Will said. “They are the reason I am here and the reason I race.

“So to get the opportunity to have a crack at winning Bathurst with my brother again is just magic. I can’t begin to describe what it would mean to me.

“And after going so close in 2014 in that crazy race, well it certainly feels like unfinished business.”

The brothers are chasing a dream that began 28 years ago when they began racing each other in go-karts.

Alex is competing full-time in the FIA World Championship Endurance season in a Porsche.
