WHILE most would immediately send in their resignation letter, a young Burleigh Heads man was hard at work early yesterday morning despite learning he was $1.3 million richer.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, admitted he couldn’t sleep after using an app on his phone to check his ticket, which confirmed it was a division one winner.

“I didn’t really sleep ... but I was still up early and off to work,” he said.

“I was nearly ready for bed ... and I thought I’d check my ticket and scan it on the app. I did it and it came up with ‘Congratulations you’ve had a huge win’.

“I didn’t believe it. I showed my partner and she said ‘no you haven’t’. But I looked at it again and there it was.

“After I saw this, I ended up staying up for a long time as I couldn’t go to sleep.”

The man was one of 15 division one winners to take home $1.3m following Saturday’s Gold Lotto $20 million Superdraw.

It’s the third division one win from the Gold Coast during the past three weeks.

The regular Gold Lotto player said he bought his winning entry on the spur of the moment.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 50-game QuickPick entry at Nextra Burleigh Town News.
