RILEY DAY
ATHLETICS
Having faced off with Jamaican great Usain Bolt in the Nitro athletics series at 16, Riley Day is no stranger to the big stage, and is capable of anything at the Commonwealth Games in her home state. The 17-year-old won the 100m and 200m double at the national championships and selection trials which could mean a full program of racing, including a relay at the Games. Day, who hails from the country town of Beaudesert an hour’s drive from the Gold Coast, won 200m gold and 100m silver at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2017. Boasting a 100m personal best of 11.50sec, the “Beaudesert Bullet” will have high hopes for the senior Games despite her age.
