HOW TO SAVOUR SURFERS IN STYLE

- CHANTAY LOGAN chantay.logan@news.com.au

Surfers Paradise Beach is one of the most recognisable stretches of sand in the world. Diners at Seaduction Restaurant + Bar are treated to a between-the-flags vantage of that postcard perspective, but it’s not your typical tourist experience.

Behind floor-to-ceiling glass on level two of Peppers Soul resort, you’ll find a cool sanctuary far from the sunburnt swarms of holidaymakers. Think French fizz and fine dining. You won’t regret splashing out on seafood, but it is possible to savour the millionaire view without the matching price tag.

Head south to the BMD Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club for an absolute beachfront chicken parmi.

If you’re not sure what you feel like, foodie hub The 4217, next to Bruce Bishop carpark, has multiple cravings covered under one roof.

Here you’ll find the Gold Coast’s best milkshakes and American-style burgers at Brooklyn Depot, along with reliable coffee at Paradox (order their famous Nutellatte).

As well as being a reader favourite for pizza, Salt Meats Cheese is home to the flaming cheese wheel. On offer every Wednesday, a huge wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano is scooped out to resemble a bowl. Your personal cheese magician will pour in warm brandy and set it alight, leaving melted, gooey, cheesy goodness behind to be tossed through fresh pasta. The neighbouring Tella Balls Dessert Bar can take care of the finale. Its signature Nutella lasagne layers chocolate mousse with

fresh cream, chocolate biscuits, Nutella and gelato.

Once your flavour fantasies are fulfilled, the Glitter Strip’s bright lights beckon. Sure, you can go clubbing in Surfers, but there’s a new attraction giving the time-honoured tradition a hole new meaning.

Holey Moley Golf Club is

your one stop shop for putt putt, karaoke, bowling and escape rooms. Oh and cocktails, lots of cocktails.

Putt putt holes, including a Pac Man room, life-size Simpsons couch and golf throne, can be tackled with a drink or slice of pizza in hand.

After a late night, there’s nothing better than lazing on the sand or pressing reset with some saltwater therapy.

The locals voted Surfers Paradise one of the Gold Coast’s top 10 beaches and it’s paradise for peoplewatching. Just ask chief lifeguard Warren Young.

“Lifeguards who work in this area wouldn’t work anywhere else as there is

something happening all the time,” he says.

“There are good waves when the banks are right, with a slight offshore wind from the N/W. Enjoy strolling along the beachfront from Narrowneck to Surfers.”

It’s a great way to work up an appetite and I know the perfect pit stop.

If you happen to be around on Sunday, Bazaar marketplace at the QT Hotel turns into a brunch wonderland.

Imagine fried chicken and waffles washed down with mimosas, build-your-own acai and poke bowls, and chocolate fountains.

?? ?? You can still enjoy Brooklyn Depot’s burgers if you’re “being good”. Ask them to shun the bun and score a side of salad.
