I REFER
to the article in Monday’s
Gold Coast Bulletin (‘Dividends you can bank on’) concerning the rewards of dividends from investment in Australian shares.
Up until recently there is no doubt that the yields stated in the article together with the benefit of franking credits would provide many with a sound income stream.
However might I suggest that investors should be very,very careful at the possibility of electing a Labor Government which will limit the benefit of franking credits.
Self-funded retirees either in their own right or through their superannuation funds will have their income trimmed.
Quite likely a large number of them will then qualify for aged pensions.
Those who have worked hard and responsibly saved for their retirement
do not deserve to be so treated.
