Having private health insurance has been a huge decision over the years. Many times we were going to opt out due to financial reasons. Once, I phoned to cancel and was talked into changing to a very basic, but remarkably cheaper, option so we wouldn't 'lose' the many years we had accumulated. Thank goodness that we did! Last year I had 5 separate operations, this year 3, so far. If I had 'gone public', I would still be on a list to see a specialist. As the saying goes, health matters.
