Injury worries for battered Bears

-

BURLEIGH could be without both of their frontline playmakers for their Round 7 clash with Wynnum Manly.

Five-eighth Dallas Wells (pictured) hobbled off during the Bears’ 20-4 loss to Norths at Bishop Park on Saturday.

The hamstring injury is set to rule him out for two weeks, with halfback Jamal Fogarty (ankle) no certainty to be back on deck next round. That could see rookie Josh Rogers partnered by a makeshift half – possibly Chris Law or Jamie Dowling – for the Kougari Oval match.

In other injury news, prop Jai Whitbread suffered his second head knock in three weeks while fullback Henare Wells has groin and rib concerns.

Burleigh remain on top of the Intrust Super Cup ladder, tied on points and differential with the Devils.

Coach Jimmy Lenihan said his side had made life hard for themselves but fought hard, only conceding tries from grubber kicks.

“We had really poor ball control,” Lenihan said. Brenko Lee scored Burleigh’s sole try.
