Refugee wins SiP best picture prize
A REFUGEE from war-ravaged Afghanistan who made a short film about his ordeal has won the Shorts in Paradise Festival’s best picture gong.
Arwin Arwin’s short film Hello won the competition last night as part of the Gold Coast Film Festival.
In 2012, he fled Afghanistan in fear to start a new life.
His other short films are My Dawning (winner of the 2013 Queensland Multicultural Film Festival awards for Best Short Film, Best Up and Coming Film and People’s Choice Award) plus Seeking Freedom.
