Ladley takes third crown

-

EIGHT new state champions have been crowned at the series finale of the Queensland Inverted Bodyboarding Titles at Duranbah Beach.

After a slow week of waves, a kick in swell on Friday opted to stick around for yesterday’s competition, resulting in punchy waves up to 1.5m.

The results, coupled with Sunshine Coast’s event one, led to the crowning of overall champions and state spots.

The open men’s division saw 12 of the best bodyboarders from around Queensland battle it out for top honours.

Event one winner Adam Keegan (Yaroomba) dominated the final from start to finish.

The Open Women’s division saw Gold Coast bodyboarder and current Aussie champion Britt Ladley claim her third state title in a row.

Already having an event one win up her sleeve, a third place was enough for Ladley to claim victory over Melanie Kelly (Broadbeach) and Rachel Summers (Casuarina).

All three competitors have qualified for the state team and the Australian titles in July on the Tweed Coast.
