Reschedule setting up new chance to shine

-

THE rescheduled MP Classic will kick off this weekend on the Gold Coast and run over two days.

After event organisers were forced to postpone the event that was originally scheduled to run last weekend, this weekend’s forecast is looking promising for the curtain raiser of Surfing Queensland’s premier series, the QCC (Queensland Championship Circuit).

“This weekend’s forecast is looking promising for finals day. There are plenty of great banks around the Gold Coast at the moment, we’re excited to kick things off this weekend and have our fingers crossed for some nice waves,” Surfing Queensland chief executive Adam Yates said.

This weekend’s event will see some of the state’s best female surfers competing alongside some of Queensland’s best males for the first time in history, with the addition of the Open Women’s division into this year’s series.

Based on competitors best three of three results, the series winner of each division will take home their share of the $10,000 prize purse as well as a position at the 2019 World Surf League Quiksilver and Roxy Pro trials at Snapper Rocks.

The MP Classic has a long history of attracting some of the best surfers in the world including WSL Championship Tour stars.
