I LOVE media reports that housing is booming because one five million dollar mansion sells on the GC. Talk about spin by people with vested interests. Review the stats nationally, house prices are not even flat, they are falling! - Ken

If Todd Greenburg thinks that the paying public go to NRL games to watch the refs blow the pea out of their whistles, he is a raving lunatic. Coaster

The great CFMEU. Here we go again … make all the huff and puff about silica after 1 person died last year and yet you and heaps of construction workers still smoke on site...deaths last year 15,000 wake up. noel

How much can a Koala bear? Once again the ratepayers are bearing the brunt of Tate’s development-at-all-cost policies. Would it not be better to just leave the remaining Koala habitats alone. Lawman, Palm Beach Regarding the filling of Black Swan Lake, it appears that an internal GCCC memo is all that is needed to indicate the owners’/ratepayers’ consent to this destruction. It takes precedence over a 39,000+ petition against! Democracy has left the Gold Coast.

If councillors and staff find new conflict of interest laws confusing they have probably become too used to narrow legalistic interpretations that just side-stepped their real conflict of interest obligations. In this there is no confusion.

Well done BLUES. Qlders sore redneck losers. How many tries did you get off forward passes in past 15 yrs? Suck it up poor losers To no name with the comment re: Peter Beattie’s next organisation to ruin being Cricket Australia had me laughing out loud. Extremely funny but DEADLY SERIOUS PH, Ormeau

Bring back the old fashioned paper straws. Problem solved. - Old chook

I’m all for ditching plastic bags etc, however, I cannot see how reusable metal straws can be hygienic. Bar tenders using them again and again to check their cocktails? Can they know which end was in their mouth. Do they sterilise them between customers, I think not. Also having a metal straw hanging around the bottom of one’s handbag can’t be very hygienic. Back in the good old days, the straws were made of paper, surely in these days

of advanced technology, someone could produce them again. They just disintegrated. Just a thought!! Shezz

A jetty off The Spit...Great! So why not a combined Cruise Ship and Ferry Terminal … Think Big. Don

Flying back to the Gold Coast from Melbourne on Thursday the whining was deafening. No not from the plane but from Maroon supporters. Grey

Can we stop talking about CST, extended light rail, upgrading of the M1? It is all very frustrating and now here is the punch line. None of it will ever happen as long as we have losers and bozos at all levels of Govt so fix the cause and the problems will fix themselves Mr MF

Hey Jackie Trad and Premier – when will u get the message? The state is broke yet u talk of Olympics. Where’s this coming from. When will u two become responsible and concentrate on the debt that Labor put us in!!! U are delusional if u think the Olympics should b here! U haven’t yet said what the Games did to the bottom line! Election time can’t come soon enough

How stupid is Labor. Sand mining to cease on Stradbroke Is. Next yr! That mining company paid the state gov 1 billion royalties every yr. What a bunch of turkeys bowing to the lunatic green vote! Indigenous workers on the island will soon b out of work and back on taxpayers money! Labor vote -- HA

You want cheap Commonwealth Games souvenirs? Salvos at Southport are selling Commonwealth Games lanyards for $1. QWERTY

I agree with Pak Willims (GCB 9/6), why would anybody with a decent IQ own a motor bike and share the roads with today’s lunatic car drivers, considering the amount of motorbike fatalities, look at the protection a car can offer you in a crash, seat belts etc, a bike offers you nothing. I lost my brother in a bike accident. RhondaW.

Went to my 1st game at Cbus, not being a supporter of either the Titans or the Rabbits. I was disappointed that there was a lack of support for the locals, going by all the red and green in the crowd I would guess there were about 80% Rabbit fans present. Maybe we don’t deserve a NRL team. DAS

I stopped reading what should have been an interesting interview with Annaliese Battista, new Destination GC CEO, after getting annoyed with the number of corporate buzzwords used. I have worked in state govt for too long to be fooled by this.
