GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ MARK MAZZAGLIA

-

WINNERS

Hearts Lifted (Race 3) Hearts Lifted ($2.10 favourite) had the favourite backers back in business after the first two favourites had bitten the dust. Scott Galloway gave the Michael Costa-trained filly the run of the race from the inside gate and produced her at the right time to record a one-length win.

Straight Home (Race 5)

A patient ride by Jackson Murphy kept the punters cheering when he drove Straight Home straight to the wire to score back-to-back wins at the Coast a week apart. Murphy settled the $2.70 favourite in the second half of the field and let the four-year-old work into the race coming to the home before hitting top gear at the 200m.

Will’s Bid (Race 7)

Another copybook ride from Scott Galloway saw him and trainer Michael Costa chalk up a double with Will’s Bid after winning earlier with Hearts Lifted. Will’s Bid sneaked along the rails to arrive as the $2.25 favourite. Galloway was happy to let the speed go in the early stages and gave the horse a lovely trailing run on the fence. LOSERS

Mistoffelees (Race 1) Favourite backers were off to a horror start with the $2.35 favourite Mistoffelees finishing a well beaten third in the six-horse race. He was last to leave the barriers and was never a winning chance. The gelding didn’t look comfortable on the heavy track.

Brown Brown (Race 2) Things got worse for the punters after the Brown Brown ($1.40) finished third, only a neck from the winner. Ryan Plumb gave Brown Brown every chance and after racing in the box seat, eased to the outside in the straight but the first two horses handled the wet track better.

NEXT TIME

Much Deeper (Race 7) Much Deeper mixes his form up but a fast-finishing third over at huge odds over 1400m in the Class 1 for the colts, geldings and entire indicated that it won’t be long until the four-year-old finds the winner’s stall again.

Adoradiva (Race 4) All-the-way winner Adoradiva put in a first-class performance to record her second win from her fourth race start and there are plenty more wins ahead. Apprentice Boris Thornton had no hesitation in the taking the filly straight to the front and she was able to hold off all the challengers in the run to the line.
