SHARYN WON OVER BY COAST’S CHARMS

-

SHARYN Carnahan loved the Gold Coast so much during her time as a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games that once she finished her PhD, she packed up her life at Pittsworth southwest of Toowoomba and moved here.

“I loved the friendly vibe, and it is so much warmer in winter than Toowoomba,” she said. “Being close to both the beach and the mountains so I can enjoy nature is great, but also the buzz of the busier parts of the Coast.”

Mrs Carnahan (pictured) had just finished her doctorate in nutritional physiology and decided her job prospects were better on the Coast.

“My husband applied for a job as a mechanic and got one within a week, so it all happened very quickly,” Mrs Carnahan said.

The new Upper Coomera local said the whole Commonwealth Games experience cemented her decision to move to one of the best cities in the country.

“It was definitely a once in a generation opportunity,” she said of her volunteering experience where she helped out at table tennis events.

“I loved how friendly everyone was to each other, chatting on buses, at cafes and everyone had a smile,” she said.
