Carne tells of ordeal

-

CARNE Doyle-Manga knows he is lucky to be where he is today.

The Norths Devils forward last year had a near-death experience while playing for former club Tweed Heads in the Intrust Super Cup after he suffered an anaphylactic episode on a team flight back from Papua New Guinea.

As he prepares to return to PNG this weekend, DoyleManga has revealed the fear he felt as his throat started to close up and how Tweed Heads trainer Jimmy Matson saved his life with a generic brand allergy relief tablet.

“I almost died. My throat and my face became swollen. I couldn’t breathe,” he said.
