High-rise hijinks cost

A CIRCUS worker has pleaded guilty to throwing items which included a vacuum cleaner from a Gold Coast high-rise during a bucks party.

Ben Michael McDonald, 28, faced the Southport Magistrate­s Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to common nuisance, possess utensils or pipes and drink driving.

Police were called to the Hilton Hotel in Surfers Paradise on May 20 after reports someone was throwing items which included bottles, cans, toilet paper and a vacuum cleaner from the 51st storey.

Police found McDonald behind the wheel of a van at the car park exit.

McDonald, who was represente­d by Bettina Webb of Howden Saggers Lawyers, was breath tested and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.22,.

Police suspended his licence. Magistrate John Costanzo fined McDonald $3000.
