Pinner drives big Robina victory

-

GUTSY halfback Sam Pinner led Robina’s women’s team to a resounding victory over Mt Gravatt at the Roo Pen in QWFA Division 2 South on Saturday.

Pinner shone as her inspired Roos outfit downed the Vultures 8.10 (58) to 1.1 (7), with the visitors recording their only goal for the game in the last quarter of the Round 12 match.

The home side made their intentions clear early, and coach Joel Ralph was rapt with his side’s determination.

“Our tackle pressure was outstanding,” Ralph said.

“We set a strong defensive standard early and maintained that focus and intensity for the entirety of the game, which was most pleasing for our group.

“Our stoppage attitude was red hot and the application of our structures around the footy was really good and we got the ball out on our terms for most of the game.

“We will be looking to maintain those same levels of focus and intensity at training on Wednesday night and into next Saturday when we meet Surfers in the first ever Pride Cup for AFL in Queensland.”

Robina’s men’s sides enjoyed a competition bye in QFA Division 2.
