PERFECT CHANCE FOR BUDDING GARDENERS

-

HER Upper Coomera garden boasts a collection of close to 3000 gorgeous orchids.

Now expert orchid grower Christine Martin (right) shares her knowledge and experience to beginner orchid growers, through the South East Species Orchid Society.

The society, which meets every fourth Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Nerang Senior Citizens Centre, is open to young and old – the prerequisite is a love of gardening … and orchids.

“Orchids are the largest flowering genus and are found almost everywhere in the world. More than 800 species grow in Australia alone,” Mrs Martin said.

Mrs Martin has used the internet to grow her knowledge on her favourite flower. Trade shows have also played a part in expanding her green thumb.

South East Species Orchid Society will hold a show and trade day on Saturday, August 11 at Nerang Senior Citizens Centre. Entry is $3.
