May or not, Suns must lift game
SUNS young gun Brayden Fiorini says there are “no excuses” for his depleted side as the midfielder braces for a moment of personal satisfaction on the MCG.
A week after shocking the AFL by beating the Swans in Sydney, Gold Coast slumped to a disappointing loss to Carlton at Metricon Stadium last weekend.
Fans could be forgiven for remaining unsure which Suns side will run out on Sunday against finals-bound Melbourne, particularly without suspended skipper and key defender Steven May.
Influential midfielder David Swallow must also pass a concusion test in order to line up.
“I can’t wait for the opportunity,” Fiorini said.
“There’s no real excuse, it’s 22 blokes out there and you’ve just got to do your job.”
The match will be a moment to savour for the 20year-old, who supported Collingwood as a kid.
Now in his third season in the AFL, Fiorini will line up at the MCG for the first time.
“It’s a dream come true,” he said yesterday.
