$1m add to sand work
GOLD Coast City Council has invested another $1 million on pumping sand at Burleigh Heads and Tallebudgera Creeks.
Part of a $32m commitment, Mayor Tom Tate said it was a “key project” in protecting the coastline.
“Pumping sand from the creek over on to Burleigh Beach during winter and spring replenishes our beaches ready for summer,” he said.
About 40,000 cubic metres of sand is added to Burleigh Beach each year.
The dredge will move to Currumbin Creek in October to begin pumping sand onto Palm Beach.
