Schools fall at final hurdles

GOLD Coast teams have suffered double defeat in the Bill Turner School tournament yesterday.

Despite a goal to Lily Rae, Helensvale High went down 2-1 to Kelvin Grove in the final of the statewide girls competition.

In the boys, Lachlan Anderson’s 23m strike was not enough for Palm Beach Currumbin State High against Toowoomba Grammar.

The winners from the tournament at Redcliffe progress to September’s national finals at Lake Macquarie.
