DAFFODILS BLOOM AT PBC HIGH

-

Palm Beach Currumbin High School students are turning the school yellow in support of the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day – with celebrity support ERIN WOODS AND BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

THEY’VE become known for their competitive streak but now Palm Beach Currumbin High School has the support of one sporting hero for its latest challenge.

The school will be raising

money for Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day this week, with world champion surfer and former student Mick Fanning on their side.

“I’m really proud of the students and staff at PBC for getting involved in Daffodil Day. There’s so much work and research that needs to be done to help those impacted by cancer,” he said.

“The school has always had a strong competitive spirit and sense of community and I’ve got no doubt that this year’s fundraising mission will be a great success.”

Though all students will be wearing their brightest yellows and making a donation on the day, they’ve introduced a bit of extra competition to the event.

Their four school houses, the Athenians, Phoenicians, Spartans and Vikings will each be competing against one another to see who can raise the most funds.

The school will also cater for the Cancer Council on August 24, an exciting new development in what they said was a long history of charity involvement.

Executive principal Christopher Capra said he was looking forward to a sea of yellow washing over his school on Friday.

“It’s a wonderful initiative, and we look forward to doing all we can as a school to make a genuine difference.”
