GC’S LOUD VOICE
The Gold Coast has its greatest representation in the Federal Cabinet in political history.
It’s an outstanding result that rewards Gold Coaster faith in the coalition.
Our strong presence at the Cabinet table will hopefully reap dividends.
Having Gold Coast MP, Stuart Robert, as Assistant Treasurer is a big win.
It will give him a strong platform to advocate for vital infrastructure projects such as light rail and M1 upgrades.
While new Defence Industry Minister, Steven Ciobo, and new Industry Science and Technology Minister Karen Andrews also have the opportunity to better our city.
It is disappointing to see the tourism portfolio leave the Coast, but our new, stronger-than-ever voice in Canberra has the potential to get things done.
The only downside is that after all the dreadful self harm the Coalition has done in the past week, Bill Shorten remains at short odds to become Prime Minister within nine months, meaning this new voice may be short-lived.
