Traffic stop uncovered ice

-

A GOLD Coast man was found with 0.7g of the drug ice and a stolen bank card during a traffic stop, the Southport Magistrates Court was told.

Nicholas James Burnheim, 33, narrowly missed returning to prison after he pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing dangerous drugs and possessing stolen property.

Magistrate Gary Finger sentenced him to five months prison with immediate parole.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Nick Wang told the court a search of Burnheim’s car after he was stopped on February 26 had uncovered the drug in a small clipseal bag and the NAB bank card.

Defence lawyer Joe Wicking, of Howden Saggers Lawyers, said Burnheim had earlier this year spent a couple of months in prison on drug related charges.
