TODAY

Mid-period South swell overlaps later. Sets to 3 to 4ft northern NSW southern exposures, gradually easing. Wrapping in at around 1 to 3ft exposed southern Qld beaches, inconsiste­nt in the upper range and fading during the day. WIND: Early light West to WSW at 5 to 10 knots, tending light variable, then to SE sea breezes in the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Strong peak in SSE groundswel­l early, speculativ­ely 6 to 8ft northern NSW south-swell magnets, grading to 4 to 6ft+ open beaches with size depending on exposure. Wrapping at 3 to 5ft across exposed Qld breaks. WIND: Early light West to WSW at 5 to 10 knots, tending light variable, then to SE to NE seabreezes in the afternoon.

FRIDAY

Easing SSE groundswel­l crossed by a developing NE wind swell. Clean 4 to 5ft sets northern NSW south facing beaches early, deteriorat­ing and fading to 3 to 4ft+ during the morning and becoming smaller into the afternoon. Junky 2 to 4ft sets southern QLD exposed coasts early, deteriorat­ing and fading during the day. WIND: Early NW to NNW 10 to 20 knots, tending N and freshening to 20 to 30 knots in the arvo.

SATURDAY

Potential for a peaky NE wind swell at around 2 to 3ft along exposed northern NSW beaches, grading 2ft+ or so southern Qld beaches early before quickly fading during the day. WIND: Early WNW 15 to 20 knots, easing into the west before tending light north to north-easterly later.

SUNDAY

Tiny to flat conditions prior to a rise in directiona­l south swell later in the day. Around 1 to 2ft exposed northern NSW breaks. Grading only around 0.5 to 1ft exposed Qld coasts. WIND: Early WSW to SW at 10 to 15 knots tending SSE and freshening in the afternoon.
