Yesterday’s minor kick in short period NE swell lingers at tiny levels this morning under period of light NW morning winds. A slow easing trend then shows before a new south swell begins to fill in later.

TODAY

Background E swell overlapped by a minor NE windswell. Around 1ft+ exposed breaks, grading tinier elsewhere with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light NW/NNW inshore ahead of a southerly change 15 to 20 knots in the morning, freshening to 20 to 30 knots from the south later.

TOMORROW

New SSE windswell shows across the coast under fresh south, SSE winds. Ranging from a windblown 3 to 4ft+ at exposed northern NSW beaches. Grading semi clean at 2 to 3ft along exposed southern Qld coasts and down to 1 to 2ft at best inside the points and bays. WIND: Early inshore SSW turning SSE 20 to 25 knots, easing to 15 to 20 knots later.

SATURDAY

SSE swell slowly eases under moderate SSE winds. Up to 2 to 3ft+ across northern NSW south facing coasts. Grading 1 to 2ft+ exposed Qld breaks, smaller elsewhere. WIND: Early lighter WSW to SSW inshore, tending S to SE at 10 to 15 knots, then ESE to E/NE later.

SUNDAY

Faded SSE windswell underpinne­d by an inconsiste­nt S groundswel­l. Ranging from 1 to 3ft at exposed northern NSW beaches, grading 1 to 2ft across exposed southern Qld beaches and tiny inside points and bays. WIND: Early light WNW inshore tending variable, then N to NE in the 10 to 15 knot range later.

MONDAY

Potential for small, inconsiste­nt S groundswel­l ranging from 1 to 3ft northern NSW south facing beaches, superseded by rising SSE windswell towards 2 to 3ft+. Grading to 1 to 2ft southern Qld exposed coasts, picking up later. WIND: Early light WSW to SW inshore, shifting S 15 to 25 knots, then SSE potentiall­y at 20 to 30 knots in the arvo.
