Currie case put back

-

A STEWARDS hearing into 28 charges against Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie may not be heard for at least six months.

Currie’s lawyers have lodged a Supreme Court review application seeking orders involving the charges, which arise from a raid on his stables at Toowoomba on April 7.

The application, which mainly involves particulars of the stewards case, has to be resolved before an inquiry can resume.

It was to be heard in the Supreme Court in Brisbane yesterday but was delisted.

A Queensland Racing Integrity Commission spokesman confirmed the stewards hearing was now unlikely to go ahead until next year.

It is usual for applications to the court to take up to a month to get a decision which means the stewards inquiry may not start until at least April.

Currie’s lawyer Jim Murdoch said he could not comment until after legal matters had been resolved.
